This can often be a key or “the key” to finding more creative success in new designs.
Sometimes your designs might start off rather dull. That’s actually very natural. It may be because you’re missing a critical step in the design process: The Morgue File.
I know, gruesome name. But that’s what designers call their collections of inspiration. It’s time for you to spend time looking through examples of good design. These are some outstanding Logos that will serve you well when you work on the Logotype Quest. This is an example of what you might use to begin to build on your own morgue file.

Now go look at them again, but this time really focus on how typography and lettering are used creatively in each design. Often times the creativity infused into the design can easily be overlooked if you don’t take time to appreciate the designs.
After looking through everything carefully you may continue on.
Mastery: For now, mastery involves looking at each gallery multiple times and documenting the unique concepts (especially simplification) you can identify in the post below. Find at least one other external (not creative crusade) web resource for any other kinds of graphic art logos that inspire or interest you. Note what is unique or special about the art as you link the images to your new post. Hint: check out the Links page
Hint: Citing the Morgue File’s role in the 5 Stages of the Creative Process would be a good idea. Oh have you not been introduced to the Creative Process. It would be a fantastic idea to check that out when you have a chance. It could become ESSENTIAL to successful design as you grow.
I would love to encourage you to begin filling up the pages of your sketchbook with inspirational designs and idea or notes. These could be in the form of sketch or printouts that you glue into your sketchbook. Just fill it up anyway you can.
