Objective
- To develop an understanding of how a design plan is essential to go with technical skills
- Apply digital skills to your original design plan
This project will challenge you to design your own original event poster from research all the way through production.
Remember: All Epic Design Quests require documentation of your ENTIRE design process on a Behance Project Page. Be sure to become familiar with our design process before beginning any Epic Quest.
WARNING: Upon accepting this quest you will have 21 days to complete the quest. After that deadline the quest will be reduced by 50%!
To begin this project now you may click Accept.
Please keep track of time remaining before 50% Penalty goes into effect
ALWAYS read the entire quest before beginning to ensure you understand all requirements. Remember the process is worth at least half of the project grade.
Go to Behance and create a new Behance project page titled “Poster Design”.

- Understand the Problem
- Research and Investigate
- Generate Possible Solutions
- Select AND DEVELOP Best Solution
- Model and Prototype (Create)
- Test and Evaluate
- Produce
Basic Requirements

- See Coulson for approval of your event choice
- Use creative problem solving for an inspired and original solution
- Use the ENTIRE design process to develop a design plan that is then executed
- One finished 18″ x 24″ poster design with original illustration, typography, and composition
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS & INSTRUCTION
Design Process STAGE 1: UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM
Establish exactly what the assignment is and what is required to be successful
- What is your event?
- What is the purpose of the poster?
- What will you need to communicate?
- What will be the greatest Challenges you are going to need to face in the project?
Design Process STAGE 2: Research and Investigate
Always record your digital resources either as a cited source or a simple linked resource with documentation (notes, thoughts, images) on your project page.
Research Topics
Be very cautious not to look for design ideas to copy in your research, because that is plagiarism!
-
- Similar Events
- Research Possible Themes
- Research your industry or story
- Who is your target market?
- Research creative poster design styles AND typography
- Locate at least one DESIGN STYLE that is NOT your event, but that you could possibly use in your design. post this design and add a couple of notes about what you like about it.
