Well, we kind of our new game up and running. I’m still working on locking in faster webservice to help it run even smoother but at least we have something to work with for now. I have recently noticed that several times our website moved slow and needs a refresh to watch the move or finish loading a page. i hope this will be corrected when I move this site to a new server but for now refreshes may be important. I like to use the shortcut command-R to quickly refresh the page.
As we begin our second week and get rolling on “OUR” first project together I am being confronted by lots of district teacher policy, just like students have policy to follow. One thing that has stuck with me from our teacher meetings was that everything should have purpose or reason when you are learning. That stuck with me because to often in art the purpose is far to often lost to people looking only for “pretty things.” Art as school lessons should always have purpose. Now there are certainly differences between Artistic Exercises and Art Projects but in the end WHY are you creating what you are working on?
Purpose should be a major part of this class but even more so in life. Will art have purpose in your life? Will your career path in life have purpose? I hope that your purpose of this class isn’t to earn a certain grade. I hope its not to finish the project. I hope its not to do good enough and keep me happy. I hope its to learn, improve, DO YOUR BEST, and become a creative designer!
Find Purpose in everything you do. Someday, rather than finding success in just making money, have purpose in your life. Design will have purpose in your life even if you don’t become a graphic designer. Engineers creatively build solutions, Doctors creatively explore solutions to illnesses, and in Business the next creative venture or approach to a business problem could make your career. Always remember to find purpose in everything you do. If you are lost for the moment ask… or make you purpose to perform the best your skills will allow.
